"Animals used to roam these lands until man arrived. Ever since then, these lands no longer seemed to be the same. But why? How exactly has man affected the animals?"
(Someone else come out the explain.)
(General ideas of human activities which kills the animals & indicate that not only human activities harm the people, there are some other reasons as well.) "Humans have caused the extinction and endangerment of many animals by destroying the animals' natural habitat, through pollution, deforestation and using pesticides."
Where ever humans are, there is always pollution. (Explanation of pollution.)
Pollution is where our environment, is being contaminated by harmful substances. Pollution takes many forms, the most serious types of pollution are Ocean Pollution and Air Pollution.
Ocean Pollution is mainly caused by people who dump rubbish into the rivers which then flows into the ocean. For example, a sea turtle might eat a plastic bag, mistaking it for a jellyfish, and choke to death. There are other animals which die from this as well, not only turtles. Since oil floats on water and spreads quickly, it is a particularly harmful type of ocean pollution. Oil can coat the feathers of sea birds when they are hunting their prey. And when those sea birds are trying to clean themselves, they are poisoned. This happens to penguins when they come to the surface for air. Also, if an animal is poisoned, its offspring could be affected, too.
Air Pollution is generally caused by the green house gases such as methane, carbon dioxide and sulphur oxide which is released by vehicles and factories.
(Insert Diagram here.)
When the air around us is polluted and it rains, the water in the rain reacts with the sulphur compounds along with the oxygen in the atmosphere, thus creating acid rain. Acid rain is highly dangerous to the environment, it has the ability to destroy forests, dissolve rocks and can contaminate the ocean, therefore killing fish. (the end of pollution explanation)
"As time went by, humans began to chop down more and more trees. This has had a great impact on animals."
Deforestation is the act of chopping down trees for industrial and farming purposes.
Chopping down too many trees can cause desertification, soil erosion, silting, salinity problem and eutrophication.
Desertification results in soil erosion where the nutrients in the soil is being washed away which would make a fertile land into semi-desert. Forest loss decreases the biodiversity, changes the Earth's climate and increased the levels of greenhouse gases.
When the deep-rooted trees are cleaned away, the water-table will rise and bring the dissolved salts to the earth's surface. Salting of land can cause severe loss of productive land. This will cause the herbivore animals to loss their food and habitat. If these herbivore die, the carnivores which eat them will also die due to the lack of food. Some of the salts will be washed into the rivers or sea. This can kill many aquatic animals and reduce the aquatic biodiversity.

"But of course, human activities are not the only ones which causes the death of our lovely animals, there are some other reasons as well."
"The introduction of animals has caused great damage to New Zealand's Natural Forests and native animals."
Foreign animals were first introduced into New Zealand because of many reasons.
Possums are possibly the worst of all. They were introduced into New Zealand for money making purposes. The natives plants which they enjoy eating the most are pohutakwas and New Zealand's threatened mistletoe. Possums eat plants such as the pohutakawa, New Zealand's threatened mistletoe and other plants.
They also eat the eggs of native birds, chicks and even the adults. Possums also carry a disease disease known as Bovine Tuberculosis, otherwise known as TB. This disease is a threat to New Zealand's farming sector.
Some animals, like the stoats were introduced in order to control pests such as rabbits. However, soon after the introduction of stoats, their diet began to move away from rabbits and towards native birds.
"The rise of temperature, has wreaked havocs on animals .
Animals which cannot adapt to the temperature change will die."
Climate change is a long term change in weather. When this happens, it it will affect almost all the organisms on Earth. For example, climate change is currently causing the ice lands in the Arctic to melt, therefore reducing the land for polar bears.
Warmer temperature also affects the length of each season. A short winter can impact on a bird's feeding season. For example, in Europe, the woodland caterpillars are hatching two weeks earlier in Spring. By the time the migrating birds return from Africa to reproduce, most of the caterpillars have already turned into butterflies. And the birds will die from starvation.
(Explanation of Climate Change.)
"Most people don't really think about animals extinction until it really happens. And when it does happen, we lose more than what we realised."
(Conclusion)
Humans have lead the animals to the edge of extinction. This not only causes imbalance within the wildlife, we also lose research material which could benefit our society. Animals are biologically same as humans. This is why scientists do experiments on certain animals to test if the medicine works properly for its purpose.
If the population of animals keeps decreasing, our future generations might not be able to see these animals. Now take the opportunity your life gave you to help those endangered animals survive!!

Animals, animals,animals...
as the world begins to slowly develope, humans gradually evolve,so do the animals. However things can't always stay the same. Not everything exist forever.
By the year 2050, would we still be able to see the polar bears and penguins. Would we still be able to see the hector dolphins? Would animals still exist?
Our hypothesis is that: If global warming, pollution animal poaching and other factors which kill the animals
continue at our current rate, by the year 2050, half of the animals will become extinct or endangered.
These animals may include the polar animals such as penguins and polar
bears, due to global warming. Along with many other animals, such as the hector
dolphins, whales and platypus, whose numbers are quite low already.
On our quest to find the answers of our questions, we met 5 excellent scientists-Penelope, Jasmin, Andy, Shelton and Professor Luciano.
Our hypothesis is partially correct. Pollution, animal poaching and global warming have caused great troubles to the wildlife. To make it more specific, the factors which are killing the animals are: animal poaching, contamination in the ocean, oil spills and deforestation. If the numbers of the animals keep decreasing, they will soon be endangered and eventually become extinct.
Overall, animal extinct is a bad thing. If the numbers of the animals keep decreasing, they will soon be endangered and eventually become extinct.
In order to help them, people have to stop destroying animals' habitats. Organisations like WWF are helping the animals already.
We would also like to thank Sheltong, Andy, Luciano, Penelope and Jasmon for helping us with our documentary.
